Bats Ridge Caves
Caving at Bats Ridge is a very unique activity that our camp is lucky enough to offer and is definitely one of the favorites. Bats Ridge is home to two impressively large underground caves, and our contracted guide knows all the nooks and crannies. |
Sandboarding
As far as we know, sand boarding is unique to Cape Bridgewater Coastal Camp and we consider the activity one of our best assets. The activity is situated at Swan Lake, which is a picturesque rugged area of mountainous dunes that back onto discovery bay. Kids zoom down the endless dunes on old snow boards in a race to get the furthest. Sand boarding is a half day activity that allow kids to run, roll and board up and down the huge dunes ensuring barrels of excitement with the extra bonus of ensuring kids will happily get to bed in the evening. Swan Lake is approximately a 40 min drive from the camp and groups are required to supply their own bus. |
Seal Tours
Seals by Sea Tour*A must do as this activity is hands down a favourite amongst all age groups. As seen on Totally Wild, Coxy’s Big Break, The Best of Getaway and winner of many tourism awards, the Seals by Sea Tour is a sure way to send a buzz of excitement amongst the group. Board the boat at the boat shed, located only minutes walk from the camp and take the 3 minute trip around the Cape to visit the colony of approximately 1,000 seals. Cruise in and around the watery cave and keep your eye out for Dolphins, Gannets, Albatross and Whales sometimes seen on the trip. On the way home zip along the wave breaks and pose for a photo before disembarking. Seals by Sea Tours offer significant discounts and flexibility to school groups staying at the Cape Bridgewater Coastal Camp and therefore tour durations can be altered to fit each schedule. |
Snorkelling
Snorkeling*Also operated from the jetty where the Seal Tour departs. Snorkel over shallow grounds of sand, rock, kelp and small ledges to explore the vast array of local sea creatures. We often see Wrasse, Zebra fish, Whiting, Banjo Sharks, Abalone, Star Fish and many other species Activity is ideal for year 5 students and above with any prior experience level. All equipment is supplied however people are encouraged to bring their own wetsuits if possible. |

Great South West Walk
Great South West WalkWe are lucky enough to have the World Class 250km Great South West Walk right at our doorstep and this is something we love to incorporate into our program as often as possible. The entire route spans from Portland to Nelson via the coast or inland however this can be done in small sections. Some of the most popular sections situated close to the camp are the Blow Holes, the Petrified Forest, the Seal Lookout, Discovery Bay or even the Cape Nelson Lighthouse. Similarly to the Bike Riding, sections of the Great South West Walk are often completed as a means of getting to another activity however this is entirely up to you. |
Raft Making
Raft MakingOnly run in conjunction with the canoeing at the Bridgewater Lakes. Whilst half the group is canoeing the remainder of the group partakes in the ‘Raft Making Challenge’. Students are split into teams and supplied with limited materials in a race to construct a solid raft capable of making a ‘lake voyage’. A laughter filled activity that encourages team work and friendly competition. |
Abseiling
AbseilingAbseiling is conducted from up on the cliff, only a two-minute walk from the camp. Take in turns abseiling from the ledge down to the beach under the instruction of a local adventure company. |
Mountain bike rideing
Mountain Bike RidingThis can be done anywhere around Cape Bridgewater and is often used as a means of transport for groups to get to off-site activities such as the Cape Bridgewater Lakes for the Canoeing and/or Raft Making. For those more keen for a days ride, there are lots of tracks around Mount Richmond and the surrounding area that ensure sightings of an abundance of local wildlife. |

Learn to Surf
Learning to Surf is done with "Go Surf", on Cape Bridgewater Beach. Its a great activity with most students standing in their first lesson. Bridgewater beach is a very safe beach to learn, with no rips or currents. Students are supplied with new wetsuits and a board. |
Snorkelling with the Seals
The snorkelling activity is a great way to get up close with the beautiful seals! Wetsuits and snorkel gear supplied. |
